RODENT REDERIVATION SERVICES

Laboratory animals must be of the highest quality, free of infectious pathogens. Adventitious pathogens can dramatically alter laboratory animals as models for research.

Transferring preimplantation embryos from a "dirty" animal to a "clean" recipient can eliminate nearly all pathogens. The RADIL provides embryo transfer services developed to assist researchers in rederiving rodents to a pathogen-free state.

TimeLine For Rodent Rederivation

TimeLine Based on:

  • Submission of 10-15 female and 5 male rats of appropriate age for the genetic background

  • Submission of 8-15 female and 5 male mice of appropriate age for the genetic background

  • MU RADIL to return minimum of 1-2 breeding pairs

  • Provide documentation of pathogen-free status

  • Provide genotyping (optional, as requested)
